Family and Membership Go Together

It was Samantha Chasse’s brother Liam that convinced her to join SPVFC as a member. While she knew about us from the annual Key West Fourth of July parades, it was an interest in taking an EMT class that brought her here. Liam pointed out that volunteering with the fire company would give her not just more, but better experiences in EMT training than just taking a class. And since one needs to be a member of a brigade to get an EMT certification, she figured, why not?

SPVFC Member Samantha Chasse

In addition to getting her certification to be an EMT, Sam is part of our membership committee, where she keeps up with our current membership while also working to recruit new members. A Key West resident, Sam is working towards gaining all the certifications she can, so she can better serve her community, including her DPO (Driver Pump Operator), EMT, Haz Mat and Firefighter I class.

Sam is an animal person, who worked in the veterinary field for several years before deciding to help humans. Sam realizes however, that by helping humans, their animals often benefit, so in a sense, she is still helping animals. An artist who is into realism, her favorite medium is currently charcoal.  Sam lives with her snuggly pit bull who enjoys joining her on hikes. By day, she works in a tattoo shop where she assists four artists with bookings, paperwork and the financial end of the business.

If you’re interested in learning more about becoming a member of the brigade, reach out to Sam, or visit the station at our open house event Sunday, Aug. 21 from 1pm to 3pm.
