Eric Woods, Dad, Grandpa, and Volunteer Firefighter

Crew Leader and EMT First Responder Eric Woods joined us right after our post-Covid reopening in 2020. He has long considered himself a first responder, even if it was only to children’s injuries while raising his five boys. He had long wanted to be more involved in the community, but those five boys took up a good bit of his attention. He watched three of them volunteer with us over the years in various capacities, but it wasn’t until they all moved out that he finally found himself with the time to join Stony Point Volunteer Fire Company.

Eric has a list of what his favorite things are about us. Among the items he cites is the team spirit of having each other’s backs, the feeling that our brigade is like a family, but also that we are here to serve the community. Our roles in helping the community are often at times when others are having a dark day, so Eric finds the work of us pulling together to help someone through that incredibly rewarding. He also enjoys the training we do on each and every shift as well as the diversity among our members.

By day, Eric is a self-employed home improvement contractor. Most of his boys are married and there is even a grandbaby. In his spare time, Eric loves to play and write music, particularly with his sons. A multi-instrumentalist, he plays the guitar, banjo, violin and piano. Eric and his wife live in nearby Forest Lakes.
